Today is the surprise 75th birthday party for my father. We are having it in Friendswood, TX at on of my sister's house. We are fairly good at pulling surprises off. It was fun having all of the family and close friends together.
After all of the festivities, I passed out small pieces of paper rolled up and tied with a ribbon. I told then that we are going to play a game and they had to do what was on the piece of paper. Ruth counted down and they all opened the paper....
On the paper was the announcement that we had adopted a daughter!!!!! You see, since May of last year-14 months ago, we decided NOT to let the family into our decision...for one reason we wanted to do without outside comments and we were not wanting anything negative coming our way in this sometimes very difficult travel.The family was very excited and happy for us....so a happy ending!
