Happy Birthday Ruth-14

Today my baby Ruth turned 14! It is hard to believe all the joy and fun this child has brought into our lives and how scary it is that she is growing up so fast, but into such a wonderful person. Some days I wish she was still small enough to hold in my arms, then I realize that she still is and I cherish the times she likes to crawl into bed with me in the evenings and just talk. Or the times she still lets me sing her to sleep after prayers and a kiss. I love this child so very much

Spring Break 2012

WE began the week off with shuttling Sara to her MANY social events. Maybe I will be glad when she drives, of course she will not have a car to drive hehehe. We did take a few days to go to San Antonio. We did on day downtown at the river walk and shops. Then we took another day at Sea World. It was great weather and we did spend the evenings recuperating (and the girls texting back to the real world). I am not sure how much longer I can drag the girls with us. I think Ruth will always be willing, but Sara is another story!!!!!!

Oh yea, and happy St. Patrick's day....yes, I am Irish

out of surgery-doing good

My dad had his surgery about 1 this afternoon and he was a super hero pulling through well. This one was to remove his gall bladder. It was done orthoscopically which is such an easier recovery. He is hoping to go home tomorrow. You would have to know my dad, but her had reluctantly decided not to go home and finish cutting the yard. My mom insisted that they hire it out for a few weeks....wonder where I get my stubborn streak from.....ya think?

surgery #2

My dad had his first surgery on Friday evening. They removed a gall stone that was blocking his pancreas-thus turning him yellow. Some time today he is having his second surgery to remove the gull bladder that is full of additional gull stones. I am waiting to hear from my family to see how it went. I had a long phone visit with him last night. It appears that he likes that his room is across the hall from the patient snack area and he had just finished a cherry cobbler---his weakness is cherry pie so this is no suprise.

I am sending us all calmness as we wait.......

My dad's in the Hospital

Prayers needed please....

I got a call this evening that my dad was admitted to the hospital. He got sick yesterday, and turned yellow. He was running a low grade fever and could not stop shaking. My one sister is with my mom there and another sister will be there with them tomorrow. They will take more tests and then let my third sister and I know to see if we need to get home. We may very well go anyways.

Tonight I am trying to make arrangements for the girls while I am gone and until Jeff gets home.....aka passing on the mom juggle act.

The Golden Ticket aka medical release fianally

Yesterday Sara had her last appt w/ the orthopedic surgeon and we walked out with the golden ticket--the medical release. So, after 10 wks in splinting, major surgery, horrible scar, 2 months of PT, along with "the claw", she is now cleared to play soccer again. Am I nervous....you bet. I think I will make sure we take a splint in her bag in case she falls wrong on it. I will look for a soft splint to wear during the game. The Soccer director suggested one made for skateboarding, like her daughter had to do.

So, 10 minutes after the soccer office opened, Sara was signed up for a team. The first practice is today and at least one girl from her last team is on it.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's day to everyone. Remember today is a day about showing care for others, not just your family, but also your friends, and those who you interact with. Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone just said hello to each other, and maybe a thankyou.....I think this is called manners.

SO-Hug your family and hold them close, then go out and spread the love to others.

My mom turns 80

Today my wonderful mother turns 80 years young. She is such a great and fun person and very young for her age. She still works part time, love her birds in the yard, watching the squirrels competing w/ her bird feeders. She has a huge and beautiful garden. She is a cook to be envious of, and will work a puzzle into the wee hours. She loves to play card games, and dominoes. She is funny and fun. She is also an amazing grandmother to 13.

Happy birthday my wonderful mother!

Mom's turn to be sick

I have gotten bronchitis. I have had 4 X-rays by 2 drs, both convinced it was pneumonia. I have had breathing treatments, a huge shot in my butt, breathing tests. I feel terrible. The wheezing is keeping me up, along with the violent coughing stuff up and not able to get my breath.....well, just yucky.

One thing did scare me when the dr said my oxygen saturation # was 91 and at 90 is respiratory distress. Yes, I am now in distress....don't tell me this.

I plan on getting better soon I hope. After all, I am a mom and I still have 2 daily carpools to do, laundry is still going, the kids seem to like to eat DAILY-what's up with that?

Spring is here?

GLOBAL WARMING. Who does not believe now? It is the last day of JANUARY and the trees are leafing out and my bulb flowers are coming in bloom. I am running the AC in the evening. Last year we has a huge ice storm...remember the super bowl?

So, what is everyone doing to help lower their carbon footprint?

WAY TO GO RUTH

My dear sweet Ruth was nominated for Jr. National Honor Society again this year. We are so very proud of her. That means she is in the top 98% of her class. This year as part of the required community service, they will do 2 hours of peer toutoring at their school. Her second communtiy service was, remember, the extremely hot week in OK. on the church mission trip.

Happy Chinese New year

It came early this year and I was not prepared soon enough. Sara's Chinese teacher told them last week so I quickly put out the decorations. Yesterday Sara was telling me what they would have done in Chine on the day before, which included cleaning out the house to make room for the good luck, and getting your hair cut and get new clothes. Well of course I had to ask if her room was clean and she said this is America, not China, and I do not need to clean my room today. As far as the haircut, she decided to donate again this year on her birthday. As far as new clothes, she was smart enough not to even ask.

2012

Well, a new year is here again. How fast the fly by. This year we all chose our own mugs and we had a great variety. We did find the sparkling white grape juice and the girls liked it, Sara almost drank it all by herself.

Resolutions: Eat more, work more, do less house cleaning, get more gray hair, get another wrinkle, do multiple carpools a day, pay more for food, tell the kids no more often......

You get the idea.....happy 2012 everyone

Christmas with more family

We gather next down south at my parents's. We first had dinner what was as usual wonderful. After too many dishes, we had our photo ops, followed by the opening of the gifts.

My brother in law brought his minorah. It was so pretty and he explained the story behind it.

Christmas at home

Sara made sure we were up VERY early to get to the goodies.

The night before Christmas.....

we are establishing a tradition . First we drove around and looked at the "rich people's" christmas lights. It would have been fun to watch their electric meters go around! When we got home, the girls wrote letters to Santa, and then got silly and wrote letters to each other. Jeff lit the fire and we listened to Christmas music.

Sara's B-day party

Yesterday was Sara's 15th birthday party. We always have it early because it is right after Christmas. We had 5 girls for a sleepover and a lot of gossip and other teen things. I did not know that girls can put down so much food, I really mean chocolate!

We played a came where they were two teams of 3 and they had to decorate one of each team like a Christmas tree w/ things provided. It was really funny because they only had 7 mins to do this. Ruth got to be the judge which made her feel included to an extent.

It is funny how they always find the twister game. This has been used in every party we have had.

First Special Outting

This evening Sara and her boyfriend went to his football banquet. They were both so very nervous and cute. His father is the football coach at another school where he attends. They had a good time but everyone was amazed that Sara was not eatting like the football player, but rather like a mouse...you think? Look at her? When Sara got home, she was so tired that she put on jammies and went straight to bed. The dress~~~~size 0!

Cyn's B-day

....yea yea yea, so I am another year older.....

THE CLAW

Sara got a new splint today at therapy. It is to put equal pressure in streaching out the muscles in the wrist. She wears it 30 mins with the wrist bent down, and 30 minutes with it bent up. This is supposed to be 3X a day, but due to school and soccer, we are lucky if it is once a day. She tries to do the other exercised during school, which is mostly flexability.
